I’ve been getting this question more and more – “I’m thinking of getting into DIY. What tools do you think I need?” It a perfectly reasonable question when you’re looking to start some at-home projects.
It’s also an overwhelming question to be asking yourself if you haven’t done many projects yet. Luckily, I am here to be that resource for you. I am still in the process of collecting tools and recognize there is a financial constraint and a space constraint that comes along with owning your own tools. This guide is intended to help make sure you’re using your money and space wisely but giving you all the tools you need to customize your home to be your own.
Before you get started, as you’re looking at these tools, you’ll notice that I try to stick within one brand. This is because many tools require a battery. If you keep it to one brand, you are saving on not needing to constantly purchase new batteries for different brands. We stuck with Dewalt for no other reason than we were gifted the drill set and have since continued with this brand.

I have always been intimidated by the idea of DIYing things. I’m the type who tends to overpay a professional to get something done instead of buying materials and making it myself. I think part of me feeling so intimidated by it, it’s the fact I don’t know where to start or what tools to get. Now I know so thank you for sharing! I want to join in on the fun!! 😃
