feel like I am one of the last people on Earth to jump on the air fryer trend. To be fair, my mom may have been one of the first. Ten+ years ago, she was gifted an air fryer for her birthday. We tested it out with onion rings only to be left fully disappointed with a pile of half-cooked, not crispy, borderline soggy onion rings. So the air fryer went back. I do believe, it was one of the first models released and there was some work to do. Cut to present day, where I’m grateful I held out on the air fryer as I’m now lucky enough to own the Our Place Wonder Oven - which does so much more than just air fry. It’s a game changer for helping our day-to-day routines, especially if there’s a time crunch involved. I have a full Our Place Wonder Oven review waiting for you, plus an epic meal you can make solely using the Wonder Oven! Let’s dive in.
My First Thoughts on the Wonder Oven
Given my first air fryer experience, I was hesitant to give the Our Place Wonder Oven a go. I was very suspicious of the difference between my oven and this Wonder Oven. The first time I tried the Wonder Oven, I had to test out air fry mode. I put a bag of fries in that I know turn out mediocre in our oven at best. They are plain fries with no added anything and always turn out flavourless and mushy… or burnt – there’s no in-between.
I got started with the Wonder Oven right away by reading the instructions, washed everything (the crumb catcher, baking sheet, rack, and air fryer basket), and ran the machine for the ten minutes the instructions suggested before cooking anything. Everything looked (and smelled fine) so I proceeded to pop the fries into the air fryer basket. Having zero clue where to start on timing, I went to 400F at 10 minutes and let it run. After the ten minutes, I used my hot grips from Our Place to remove the basket. As I was sliding the fryer basket out, I was expecting to check the fries, maybe give them a flip, and put them back in. Well to my surprise, the fries were done and CRISPY!!!!! Not burnt, not mushy. Crispy and took half the time to cook as my regular oven did to cook mushy fries. First use, this Our Place Wonder Oven got an 11/10. I hate mushy fries and giving these fries life is quite the feat!!!
Subsequent Uses of the Our Place Wonder Oven
Okay, so we’ve air fried, we’ve baked, and we’ve broiled; we need to roast next! I chopped up my tomatoes, onions, and garlic, and roasted away. Now, my tomatoes alone usually take 40 minutes to roast in the oven. Guess how long they took with the Wonder Oven? 15-whopping minutes and they are perfect. Should I just keep going? Toasting buns – easy, quick, painless, air frying pretzel coated chicken – perfectly crispy. Okay, I’m air fryer sold alright! It’s worth it. But to be fair, I’m not just air fryer sold, I’m Wonder Oven sold – did you see how many things I just listed off that I could do with this little machine?!
The only things that are still on my list to try are the steam and reheat function – which I’m waiting to have gluten-free pasta to reheat – it’s the perfect product to try it on because it gets SO gross the next day if it’s not coated in sauce, or a specific noodle type. It’s rock-hard and chewy. My hope is the reheat with the steam will bring it back to life. Do not worry, I’ll be back with an update once I’ve tested it out.
Things I’ve Found Useful with the Our Place Wonder Oven
So you know how I feel about the Wonder Oven now, however, there are a few things that I’ve found to be incredibly useful while using it that includes:
- The hot grips – I used them to take everything out of the oven
- The utensil set – if I needed to flip, stir, take off, etc. I know these are safe utensils to use on Our Place products
Then there’s my nice to have’s. I am obsessed with serving and making things look so pretty. So you need:
The last thing you need are my recipes below. You’re welcome and happy shopping!
Pretzel Coated Chicken Burgers Using the Wonder Oven
Ingredients:
- ½ cup flour (I used GF)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 cups pretzels (I used GF), crushed into pretzel crumbs using a food processor
- 2-3 chicken breasts, cut into burger-sized pieces, and halved if your pieces are thick
- 2 tsp dill weed (optional)
- Aged white cheddar cheese (optional but delicious)
Ingredients:
- Get three bowls, in the first bowl, add flour, in the second bowl add your eggs, and in the third bowl, add your ground pretzels and dill
- Preheat Wonder Oven on air fry at 400 for 5 minutes.
- Take your chicken and piece by piece, coat it in flour, eggs, and pretzels until the chicken is fully covered in pretzel goodness. Repeat with the rest of the chicken.
- Add the pretzel chicken burger pieces to your Wonder Oven air fryer basket and cook in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes until the outside is a beautiful golden brown and the inside of the chicken is 165F
- Add cheese, let it melt and then pull your burger together!
Optional Condiments/Extra’s:
I did everything in the Wonder Oven because I really wanted to test it out. You can too, but it took a little longer because I purposely used all the different settings. That being said, you could do any of these on their own and they don’t need to go with the pretzel chicken burgers.
- Buns (however many you need) – toast your bun in the Wonder Oven – toast at 450 for 1-2 minutes, if desired
- Roasted Onions and Tomatoes – toss everything in olive oil, roast at 400 for 15 minutes
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- Small yellow onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, skin peeled
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes, whole
- Fries – air fry at 400 for 12 minutes
- S’mores Desser – bake your chocolate on top of graham crackers for 1-2 minutes at 400, add your marshmallows and broil on low (400) until golden brown (~1 minute, watch closely!)
- Graham crackers
- Chocolate
- Marshmallows
The world is your oyster with this Our Place Wonder Oven, and I highly recommend giving it a whirl. I’m in love and can’t look back. I hope you feel the same after trying it.

Thank you so much, Alli! Great question – I don’t find it leaves any residual smell or leftover taste etc. We made a huge mess after breakfast in there one morning; I gave it a good wipe on the inside and washed the trays and made a berry crumble in it that night. The crumble didn’t take on any sort of strange taste at all. That being said, I think it would be ok for your purpose!

Why don’t they tell you what containers you can use in the Wonder over this would help a lot. Can you use glass, medal etc?

Hi Mary! They recommend you use the components and accessories that come with the Wonder Oven – that being said you can use any heat-proof oven safe dish or aluminum foil, etc. as necessary. I hope that helps!

Great review and recipes! Do you find that after use as an air fryer it would effect the taste or otherwise of just simple toast in there? I want to use this to replace my air fryer and toaster but not sure it’ll work for me
