am way overdue to give you a dining room update. If you’re following me on Instagram, you know there was a situation with my new dining room table. This particular situation lasted for seven months. A seven-month wait for a dining room table that was supposed to arrive in two. I played a game of who/what will come first: the baby or the dining table. Spoiler alert - the dining table barely made it before Sawyer… We are almost looking at the same amount of time to bake my dining table as took to bake my baby. INSANE! Nevertheless, here we are with a complete dining room refresh that required no DIYs, no paint, no nothing - just updated furniture. It's rare to see a no DIY update in here but I can’t believe what a drastic difference it made. Be warned, it's not complete, complete but for now, this dining room decor and furniture update has been the perfect change to suit our evolving style.
The Most Drastic Change in the Dining Room
First things first: you probably need to head over to my first dining room tour and check out what was happening here. That way you have a point of reference. Then come back and you can see that everything combined here plays a huge role in the drastic change. There is one thing that I think most drastically changed our dining room: it is this oversized arched floor-length mirror. We previously had these very cool bus rolls – a nod to Vancouver history – which were no longer jiving with our style (the royal “our” – it did take some convincing). The arched floor-length mirror one – made the dining room feel so much bigger, and two – added a lot of sophistication to the space. A welcomed change.

What’s To Come
Come on now, we have children so you have to know we aren’t fully done especially since our chairs need an upgrade. I keep looking at light linen upholstered chairs like it’s a good idea. We all know it is an awful idea with two young children. So for now, the chairs remain on the list of items I would LOVE to update. For today I am smart enough not to. I can’t speak to what’ll come tomorrow.
Finally, I want to restain our sliding doors. They pull such an awful orange colour. I think a warmer wood tone or even a black would look fantastic. I cannot lie; I do not want to do that work so I would need to find someone willing and able to help.
Even though there are a few little items that are on the to-do list, our dining room update has come so far. We love sharing a family dinner here every night.
