Well, obviously this should have accompanied my DIY Wood Curtain Rod, but I was too excited to share my curtain rod to wait for all of these products I needed for these DIY wood curtain rings to come in. This DIY is super duper easy peasy. Your hands will probably be sore afterwards from screwing on all of the key hooks. But, I promise, it’s worth it.
I would also note and suggest that you opt to make these wood curtain rings to accompany the DIY wood curtain rod provided you don’t want to actually use your curtains.
In our living room, the curtains serve no purpose but to sit there and be pretty. But, I wanted to try to close them and quickly remembered that wood on wood does not mean glide. Far, far from it.
That being said, before you dive into these DIY wood curtain rings, think about the purpose of your space. Are you closing the curtains? Stick to a metal ring that will glide much better on the wood surface. Are you like me and doing this solely for the looks? Great, these DIY wooden curtain rings are for you and let’s not waste any more time!
What you’ll need to make these DIY Wooden Curtain Rings
Here’s what you need to make these DIY wooden curtain rings to make your DIY RH inspired curtain rod:
- Wood Rings (make sure the inside of the ring will fit your curtain rod)
- Paint/Stain of your choice (I did a whitewash with the Rustoleum aged glaze)
- Eye hooks (make sure they will fit your curtain hooks)
- Curtain hooks (to hook your eye hooks onto)
How to Make Your Own Wooden Curtain Rings
1. Paint or stain your wooden curtain rings. If you’re looking to achieve the exact same colour as me, mix a little bit of white paint and add some water (25% paint to 75% water). Whitewash each of your rings. Take the Rustoleum “aged glaze” and glaze over the top. Let each of the rings sit for a minute or so before wiping off excess glaze.
2. Take your eye-hooks and screw them into the outer edge – but in the centre of the outer edge – of the ring. This is how your rings will hang, you don’t want them to be crooked!
3. Add your curtain hooks to your curtain panels. Space them evenly apart.
4. Add your wooden curtain rings to the curtain hooks and away you go!
