Did someone say, Paloma?!
My ears actually would perk up so quickly if I heard the word, Paloma. Same with Aperol spritz… Or bubbles… But today we’re all about the Paloma’s. If you’ve never had a Paloma, I encourage you to try one. They are so bright and refreshing. A little bit dangerously so.
To me, nothing says summer more than a refreshing cocktail in the warm sunshine on the beach. That cocktail needs to be light and fresh with limited ingredients – so that it’s easy to make and easy to transport.
This easy Paloma recipe provides me with all of the above.
Now, I used to make my Paloma’s with grapefruit soda. Which were still so delicious and more efficient BUT freshly squeezing your own grapefruit juice… seriously, it is BEYOND delicious.
The name of my cocktail game is fresh. Fresh ingredients make a huge difference. If I need to spend five of the seven minutes it takes me to make a cocktail with freshly squeezed juice; I will do it no questions asked. I guess in my old age, I’ve come around to the quality over quantity notion.
For my ladies and gents that don’t drink, this version is easily made into a mocktail by omitting the tequila. And in all honesty, you cannot tell the difference. The freshness of the grapefruit juice cuts the tequila so much that you’d never know what you’re missing.
So, in summary, this easy Paloma recipe is:
+ easy (ha, duh!)
+ almost healthy – I mean there’s no added sugar in it, its simply sweetened by the grapefruit and if you’re doing the mocktail version, you’ve also omitted the alcohol. We will stick with it’s almost healthy.
+ fresh, oh so fresh. You know those drinks that quench your thirst so nicely.
So, what are we waiting for? I’m off to make another batch for the beach!
